Michael McLaughlin |
|
Michael is a Singapore Registered Patent Agent, qualified by professional examination to act before the Patents Registry of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) for both national and international patent applications. Michael is originally from the UK and is also a Chartered Patent Attorney (CPA) and a (qualified) European Patent Attorney (EPA). After graduating from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (UK) with an honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Michael commenced his professional career as an Electrical Design Engineer. As an engineer, Michael worked in the construction industry for almost a decade, specialising in the design of electrical and electronic systems of petrochemical and pharmaceutical plants. Michael moved to Singapore in late-2005 for a lifestyle change, and enjoys living here very much indeed. Michael has memberships with a number professional associations. He is a Member of the Association of Singapore Patent Agents, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (UK), a Member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, a Member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, and, from his days as an engineer, Michael retains his Membership of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (formerly the Institution of Electrical Engineers)
Michael speaks regularly on intellectual property, covering general IP issues, and more specifically patent issues, such as the patenting of software/computer-related inventions. Michael writes an “ITllectual Property” blog on the MIS Asia website where he explores topics in IP of interest to the ICT industries.
Michael is also a member of the IPOS Examination Committee for the Singapore Patent Agents Qualifying Examination.
